2012 Rapture Dance Intensive
Mary Skiba's School of Dance
July 19-21, 2012

Overview

Each level will have 16 classes over the course of 3 days.  Juniors and Seniors will have an hour and a half warm up each day, followed by full hour classes.  Minis will have an hour warm up each day followed by 45 minute classes.  All levels will see each instructor twice and all classes marked with * on the schedule will perform in the in-studio showcase.

Lunch

All dancers will break for lunch at their scheduled time.  Lunch and a drink will be  provided each day.

Rapture Experience

Juniors and Seniors will spend 5 hours learning a choreographed piece set by 2 Rapture instructors.  This piece will be exclusive to each group and will performed at Coalesce.

Minis

Minis will have Rapture’s annual Mystery Class! Parents look for a package with instructions that will be sent home the second day of the intensive.  This year’s hint for our theme:

Help Wanted!
If anyone has experience being an "Artist", please… WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! There is a new show coming to town! While packing for their trip, the most valuable piece of the show was destroyed. They are scheduled to perform in July, and they asked if we could help create a new masterpiece for them! We need creativity, color, and a lot of artistic hands!!!

Showcase

We will have an informal showcase on the final day of Rapture. The staff will open the showcase, then the kids will share their combos with you.  All of the classes with an * , will be the combos performed at the showcase.

Auditions

We will be auditioning on the final day for the Rapture Intensive Scholarships, our 2012 MVP and the Verve.  Minis will not be eligible for MVP or the Verve.

The Verve

The Verve is an advanced intensive geared toward serious students looking to take their art to the next level.  20 students from Mary Skiba's will be hand-picked and invited to participate. Click here for more details!

Coalesce

Coalesce means to join or collaborate, which is exactly what we do!! Gotta Dance, Mary Skiba’s and Adagio will come together and spend an evening celebrating dance, the community and the joined experience of Rapture Dance Intensive.  The Juniors and Seniors will perform their Rapture Experience, 2 competition pieces from each studio (by invitation), and our staff will perform. The show will be held at Henry Ford II’s Theatre on July 26th at 6:00pm. Tickets will be $15.00 and will be sold at each intensive.  They will not be available for purchase before your intensive begins.  Click here for more details!

City Lights

Last year, our biggest complaint was that the kids did not get to see the staff perform.  So we decided to put a full show together separate from Coalesce.  The show is titled "City Lights" and is based on Charlie Chaplin’s  1931, Silent film, "City Lights".  The Rapture Staff will be performing 2 shows at Henry Ford II’s Theater, 11911 Clinton River Rd Sterling Hts, MI 48313:

Thursday July 26th 8:00pm (after Coalesce)
Friday July 27th 7:30pm
